For young adults ages 17 to 28
Whether you make minimum wage or six figures, here's the simple money system I've used since I was four.
When I was four, my mom started teaching me how to manage money. She wasn't in a great place financially herself, and she wanted something better for me. I was basically her guinea pig, and she was just hoping it would work.
At 18, I moved out on my own. Five years later, we realized I had never once asked for financial help. That's when my mom said, "Holy crap, it actually worked."
In 2020, we created CashSmartForLife to help parents teach their kids. But people my age kept asking for it too, so I built this version for young adults. It's not a budget. It's simply how I manage my money, and it's worked for me and so many others. So I'm sharing it with you.

Every session is a working session. You build your system with me in the room, so there's no homework.
Find the money story you've been living by and decide what to keep.
Get the exact spreadsheet I use and fill it in with what you actually earn and spend.
Necessities, Wealth, Plan, Learn, Fun and Give: what each one is for and how they work together.
How to keep your system working as your job, income and life change.
"I'd usually have around $2,000 in my account and spend it down to $100 without really thinking about it."
"Before this program, I didn't really understand how to manage my money at all. I'd usually have around $2,000 in my account and spend it down to $100 without really thinking about it. It wasn't until my work hours got cut that I actually freaked out and realized how little I had left.
What made the real difference was how simple the program was constructed. I don't like complicated websites or systems, but the sheets and tools provided in the program actually showed me exactly how much money I needed to save and where to put it. It just made sense.
Now I'm in a completely different place. Before, it felt hard to save my money consistently. I was not really thinking about growing my money, I just spent whatever was left after my car insurance came out. Now I actually want to start building my wealth. I'm moving out for college soon, so learning this now, before I'm on my own, feels like really good timing.
If a friend or family member was on the fence, I'd tell them it's a great idea. The resources make it so simple to track your money and figure out exactly how much you need to save in different areas of your life. I've learned a lot, and I'd recommend it."

"It felt like I was destined to repeat the same financial mistakes we see our parents make growing up."
"Honestly, before this program, I was feeling lost, adrift in a little lifeboat at sea. I didn't inherit any good money management techniques from either of my parents. I was just doing everything on my own, trying to wing it and figure it out. It felt like I was destined to repeat the same financial mistakes we see our parents make growing up.
What made the real difference for me was how easy I found this program was to actually understand. As you're going through it, it feels intuitive, even though it's not intuitive at all. It gave me a place to start, and I have so much more clarity now.
I'd recommend this to almost anyone. I even had a moment recently that really opened my eyes: my mother-in-law, who's incredibly competent and successful in her own right, told me she needs a money management system too. That's when it clicked for me: this struggle is universal. Almost everybody deals with it. Having even a little bit of clarity, or a semblance of a system, is so much better than just being adrift. That's what I'd tell anyone who's on the fence: you don't have to keep figuring it out alone."

"If she's had her ups and downs, but come through it all, we can do the same."
"It has been a privilege and a blessing to already receive a framework for handling my finances at my age.
Money is one of the greatest struggles for a lot of people in life, causing them much grief and stress largely because many of them don't know what to do with it and how to manage it properly. How can they if no one ever taught them and they never learned? That is why I am grateful that this program has given me this simple but critically important tool now so I can mitigate my financial stress and be better equipped to handle what does come my way.
I also appreciate Emaghea sharing her own honest personal finance journey, and how she utilized this system in it. She is someone with experience that has used this system effectively across many different environments. She showed us, her students, that she's had her challenging moments too, so we don't expect perfection of ourselves. If she's had her ups and downs, but come through it all, we can do the same.
Lastly, I value the financial and even general life wisdom she imparted in this program (for example, when she said 'Regret has no price tag on it'). I wrote down several things like this that she said along the way as a reminder to myself later in life. It's good to hear these things from someone else because they're a voice saying what you inherently know is true.
I can tell that Emaghea put a lot of work into this program, and that she's passionate about giving youth and young adults a solid foundation to become cash smart for life."

No. We don't use the word budget. Budgets tell you what you can't do. This system gives every dollar a job, including the money you get to spend on fun.
No. Bring your income, your bills, and an open mind. We'll build the rest together.
Every session is recorded, so if you miss one, you can watch the recording before the next session.
